Spike Lee unveils custom Air Jordan 3 for Game 3

Longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee will unveil a custom Air Jordan 3 ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, New York’s first Finals home game since 1999.

The NBA Finals are moving back to Madison Square Garden, and Spike Lee is ready to make the spotlight his own.

Longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee will unveil a custom pair of Air Jordan 3 sneakers for Game 3 tonight, with New York’s first NBA Finals home game at the Garden since 1999 setting the stage for a very particular kind of celebration.

The sneakers are designed as a one-of-a-kind tribute built around the franchise’s signature colors. Each shoe is dressed differently: one features a blue leather base while the other is anchored in orange. The pair also carries alternating blue and orange accents across the tongue logos and heel tabs. with orange elephant print overlays showing up on both shoes. Near the heel, Lee’s iconic face logo completes the look.

Jordan Brand didn’t stop with the footwear. The custom shoes arrive in a box built for the moment, featuring elephant print graphics and Knicks branding. Special lace accessories add another layer of team-color detail, with “orange” and “blue” written in contrasting text.

The collaboration fits an established relationship between Lee and Jordan Brand. Earlier this year. the filmmaker helped showcase several colorways tied to the Levi’s x Air Jordan 3 collection through public appearances. including at Knicks games. He also appeared in promotional material around the release.

Even beyond basketball, Lee’s influence on sports culture has reached deep into how fans dress for the game. The director famously helped inspire a new era of team merchandise when. during the 1996 World Series. he requested a red New York Yankees cap—an idea that opened the door to alternate color versions of team hats that later became commonplace across sports.

For sneaker collectors hoping for a wider release, the message is clear: the Knicks-themed Air Jordan 3 looks set to remain a player-exclusive creation, debuting in sync with Game 3 and disappearing from the usual retail path.

  1. I read that and thought it was gonna be about the Knicks winning or something lol. But nope, it’s all sneakers and colors. Blue and orange elephant print sounds like it’ll be impossible to get anyway.

  2. Wait, Game 3 of the NBA Finals is at MSG tonight right? But I’m pretty sure 1999 is when they last went home, so this is kinda huge. Also Spike Lee’s face on the heel is the most Spike Lee thing ever. Question though—didn’t Jordan Brand already do the elephant print on the normal Air Jordan 3?

  3. Honestly I’m not even into Knicks but I hate how they say it’s player exclusive like that makes it “special.” Elephant print and Knicks branding in a box… cool I guess. Reminds me of when he asked for a red Yankees cap in 1996 and everyone copied it, so now I’m like why can’t they just do the same with this shoe for everyone. Also I saw Levi’s x Air Jordan 3 somewhere, so I’m confused if this is connected or totally different.
