What we know about Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan return to the UK

“Saturday Night Live” is back – in London, at least.
The British spinoff “Saturday Night Live UK” returned for its second season on Saturday, Sept. 12, kicking things off with a cold open all about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s shocking return to the U.K.
The opening sketch took place at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and featured Harry (Jack Shep) and Meghan (Ayoade Bamgboye) arriving to be greeted by King Charles (Larry Dean) and Queen Camilla (Emma Sidi).
“Don’t tell me you spent all your Netflix money already,” Charles tells the couple, to which Harry replies, “It was $60 million! How long was it meant to last?”
“What a waste you’ve become. You’re lucky your father isn’t around to see this,” Charles tells Harry, drawing confusion from Harry and applause from the show’s studio audience.
The sketch also mocked Meghan by having the duchess, who hosted the Netflix cooking and lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” enthusiastically tell Camilla that she is a “wiz in the kitchen” before Harry chimes in, “It’s true. She hires the best cooks.”
Multiple reports confirmed in August that Harry and Meghan would move back to the U.K. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, six years after dramatically stepping away from their roles as senior royals and relocating to the United States. King Charles recently confirmed in a letter that there will be no change in the couple’s royal status, and they will remain non-working royals, according to the BBC.
“SNL UK” premiered in London in March and was renewed for a second season by May. The show follows a similar format to the American version of “SNL,” but with more of a focus on British politics and pop culture. In the opening sketch, cast member George Fouracres debuted his impression of British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who took office during the show’s summer hiatus. Fouracres also played Burnham’s predecessor, Keir Starmer.
Jeff Goldblum hosted the Season 2 premiere of “SNL UK.” The show’s next two episodes will be hosted by Jamie Demetriou and Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Meanwhile, the U.S. version of “SNL” returns on Sept. 26 with Jalen Brunson as host, followed by hosts Dakota Johnson, Shane Gillis and Inde Navarrette.
