Sky’s Tyler Marsh comes to Natasha Cloud’s defense after Enes Kanter confrontation
Sky coach Tyler Marsh came in defense of Natasha Cloud after her sideline confrontation with ex-NBA player Enes Kanter at the Fever game.
Former NBA player Enes Kanter has been in the news since he announced himself for the 2027 WNBA Draft. During the Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever game, Kanter got into a confrontation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud while making a gesture from the sidelines.
However, the situation soon escalated, and the Wintrust Arena security guard had to intervene and escort Kanter out of the arena. Speaking post-game via The Athletic, Sky coach Tyler Marsh came to the defense of his star guard for the courtside incident.
“Tash didn’t want to feel like she was a distraction; I told her she wasn’t,” he said. “I told her that we all embrace her as someone that protects our team and protects the people that need to be protected. And so Tash is always going to stand on that, and then we stand for Tash.”
The drama took place during the third quarter of the game. Cloud walked towards the former NBA center who was sitting behind the cameramen. As soon as Cloud reached the sidelines, Kanter stood up and opened his arms while he kept walking towards the court. A moment later, arena security personnel removed him from the premises.
As for Kanter, he played for 11 seasons in the men’s basketball league. Drafted third overall in the first round in 2011, he recently announced that he wants to play in the W.
Ever since the announcement, there has been much back-and-forth, which has led WNBA officials to hold a couple of meetings on how to handle the situation.
Talking about the Sky-Fever game, the Sky lost 113-90 to the Fever, with Cloud scoring a side leading 16 points. Apart from that, there were only two players who could cross the double-digit mark. For the Fever, however, Caitlin Clark scored 37 points, and Kelsey Mitchell went for 30 points.
The Sky next meets the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, August 25.

Sounds like coach is basically saying she was just standing up for herself. Still tho, why was Kanter even making gestures like that from the sideline… like dude read the room.
I don’t get it, isn’t Kanter the one trying to get into the WNBA draft? If he wants in, acting like that seems backwards. Also I saw someone say the security guard ‘escorted him’ like it was a whole arrest, but maybe they mean escorted out politely??
Tyler Marsh defending her is sweet but the whole thing is kinda giving drama for no reason. Third quarter too like players finally get in rhythm and then boom sideline stuff. And the article cuts off so I’m guessing the gesture was like disrespect or something, but I can’t tell. Security had to intervene though so I mean… it couldn’t be nothing, right?
