Manchester City completed the domestic double after beating Brighton 4-0 in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley. Andree Jeglertz’s side had already won the WSL this season – ironically clinched after Brighton drew 1-1 with Arsenal – and have now mirrored their success of 2016, when they last won the FA Cup and league titles. It was Man City’s first visit to Wembley since 2022, when they lost to Chelsea in the same competition, while Brighton made history with their first major final appearance.

Kiko Seike was the instigator, making penetrating runs down the right wing and also having a great shot that blazed over the bar. But once Man City began to click – and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw
was allowed onto the ball – they never looked back. The WSL Golden Boot winner inevitably opened things up too as she nodded home an Alex Greenwood cross. Brighton wanted a VAR review as Chiamaka Nnadozie went down. But the goalkeeper never had control of the ball and was beaten in the air by Shaw. Next it was the Man City captain Greenwood’s chance to contribute. She sent in a low free-kick that beat Nnadozie at the near post, with the Seagulls stopper surely disappointed
again to let another goal slip by her. With Man City in control, the second half was a quieter affair. They scored a cracking third as Shaw, Vivianne Miedema and Aoba Fujino combined, with the latter curling home a wonderful effort. Miedema finished things off late in the game with her own wonderful header, which Nnadozie could not keep out. Surprisingly, it is the first time the striker has won the FA Cup, having twice been a runner-up with Arsenal. It caps off a brilliant

I don’t get the whole Wembley thing, they said Man City hadn’t been there since 2022 but still acting like it was a big deal lol. Wasn’t it the same Chelsea game that everyone talks about? Either way Bunny Shaw did her thing.
VAR review for that fall and the goalie “never had control”?? Sounds like the refs were already made up their minds. Also Brighton made history but still lost 4-0 so what’s the point of history when you don’t win. I feel bad for that Nnadozie lady, she’s probably gonna get blamed everywhere for the air thing.
