Sharon Osbourne Misses Ozzy Statue Unveiling After Hospital Trip

Sharon Osbourne missed the unveiling of a six-meter Ozzy Osbourne statue at Hellfest in Clisson, France, after an unexpected hospital trip earlier in the week. Ozzy’s legacy continues at the festival with the “Prince of Darkness” tribute.

Sharon Osbourne had planned to be there for the unveiling of a towering tribute to her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne. Instead, she spent the week in a hospital after an unexpected trip, and she watched the moment from afar.

On Thursday, June 18, the 73-year-old shared a message on Instagram apologizing that she couldn’t attend Hellfest for the ceremony. She said the delay was due to “an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week.” Before moving on to thanks. she made sure to recognize the people responsible for bringing the statue to life. She thanked Olivier Garnier. Ben Barbaud and “everyone at Hellfest. ” adding a special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for “the absolutely stunning statue!”.

The statue Sharon missed was a six-meter-tall “Prince of Darkness” monument to Ozzy. unveiled this week at the Clisson. France. open-air heavy metal festival Hellfest. Sharon noted that the statue was designed by French contemporary artist Philippe Pasqua. The stone figure is engraved with Ozzy’s concert slogan, “Let the madness begin.”.

Hellfest has built elaborate tributes to rock legends before. Organizers created a similarly massive statue in 2022 in honor of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Kilmister died at age 70 in December 2015 following a battle with prostate cancer.

Sharon didn’t share any further details about what ailment landed her in the hospital.

For the Osbournes. the Hellfest statue is only one part of the ongoing efforts to honor Ozzy’s life and legacy. Ozzy died at age 76 in July 2025. and the cause of death was confirmed to be related to cardiac arrest. acute myocardial infarction. coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. which he was diagnosed with in 2019.

Even as the tributes keep arriving, the family is also looking toward the future. Sharon and son Jack Osbourne recently announced work has begun on the creation of an AI-generated Ozzy Osbourne avatar. Per Rolling Stone. Sharon and Jack are partnering with Hyperreal and Proto Hologram on an AI-powered avatar described as having “the digital DNA of Ozzy Osbourne. voice. image [and] movement.” At a Las Vegas launch in May. Sharon said. “Elvis died 50 years ago. and everybody knows Elvis. ” adding. “I just want that for Ozzy.”.

A separate commemoration is already in motion for Ozzy’s absence in the family’s firsts. Jack’s sister Kelly Osbourne told Us Weekly at the Mind x The Ricky Hatton Foundation charity auction that she has special plans to commemorate her first Father’s Day without Ozzy.

Within the same orbit of remembrance, details about the final days have continued to surface. Earlier, Sharon said she still remembers her final conversation with Ozzy ahead of his death at 76. Speaking on the Wednesday. December 10. episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored. Sharon shared that Ozzy told her he was having dreams the last week of his life and that he was seeing people he “never knew.”.

She confirmed to Us on Thursday that she and her brother Louis are “going to do something special for my dad this weekend.” Ozzy was the father of six—he shared Elliot, Jessica and Louis with his first wife Thelma Riley, and later welcomed Aimee, Kelly, and Jack during his second marriage to Sharon.

Kelly, speaking to Us about how she’s handling the loss of her dad, said, “I’m getting a little bit better every day. The pain will never go away, and I’ll never be the person I was before he died again. But I’m getting to know the new me.”

Ozzy’s death was announced by the Osbournes on July 22, 2025, just 17 days after he performed his final Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England.
