Sharna Burgess says she and former Dancing with the Stars pro Sasha Farber first connected during the 2006 Burn the Floor tour, and that their relationship later ended after she returned to Australia to help her dad.
When Sharna Burgess talks about Sasha Farber, she starts years before the ballroom lights and the Dancing with the Stars buzz—back to a moment she says she needed for herself.
On a new episode of The Penthouse with Peta podcast. the 40-year-old shared that she and the 41-year-old pro first met during the 2006 live dance tour in Reno. Nevada.. She described it as an unexpected bright spot in her early 20s. telling listeners. “He came into my life at a time when I just really needed to remember how to laugh again.. There was so much going on in my world in my early 20s.”
The chemistry reportedly began the moment they were close enough to notice. During the tour, Burgess said their rooms were “right next” to each other, and she eventually approached Farber after they’d been flirting for a while.
As for how long they dated, she doesn’t nail down the exact number, but she estimates, “I think we were together for three years, five years. I don’t remember. However long I was on ‘Burn the Floor,’ we were together for,” adding that Farber was a “great boyfriend” and “such a sweet guy.”
What shifted. she explained. came when she left the tour to return to Australia and help out with her dad amid his health issues.. With distance and responsibilities pulling her in a new direction. Burgess said it became “too hard” to keep the relationship going.. She and Farber ultimately broke up through Skype.
Even with how difficult it was to later work alongside him on Dancing with the Stars. Burgess connected the end of their relationship to what came next.. She said the breakup “ended up leading him to being with Emma [Slater]. which was a whole thing that they were meant to have. their journey with each other.”
Farber later married Emma Slater in 2018, before they split in 2022. He is now dating Janel Parrish.
For Burgess, life has kept moving too. She started dating Brian Austin Green in 2020, and the pair got engaged in 2023. They also share a 3-year-old son, Zane.
