Setting Standards: Alex Golesh Era begins at Auburn

With a 22-game sellout streak at Jordan-Hare Stadium and four consecutive seasons of season ticket sellouts, Auburn plays its home opener Sept. 12 vs. Southern Miss in Kickoff on The Plains.

“The wins will take care of themselves as long as our identity is what it is,” he said. “If we are physically and mentally tough. If we are detailed. If we are player led. If we are connected as a team. We win in the margins. 

“Year one will be successful if we leave and know exactly who we are and we have proof of concept to continue to build to.

Nine months have passed since Golesh’s introduction as Auburn’s 33rd head football coach with a Tiger Walk into Jordan-Hare Stadium, where he told Auburn fans what they can expect under his leadership.

“What you’re going to get from me, from our staff and as we get rolling our players, is the hardest-working, toughest, grittiest program in the entire country,” he said. “We’re going to find wins at every single margin we can find. 

“We’re going to be explosive on offense. We’re going to play really fast. We’re going to challenge teams in every imaginable way. It’s going to be a brand of football that’s going to be fun to watch. 

“Defensively, we’re going to be just as fun to watch. We’ll be aggressive, create negatives, create turnovers. We’re going to outwork, outthink and out-process people across the entire country.”
