Sen. Jon Ossoff is ‘up like a Hotlanta rocket’ in 2028 presidential election prediction markets, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten says
Sen. Jon Ossoff is rapidly emerging as a serious contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, according to CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten, who pointed to surging prediction market odds, increased public interest and record fundraising as signs of the Georgia senator’s growing national profile.

Speaking with CNN’s John Berman, Enten highlighted shifts in Kalshi prediction markets that show Ossoff gaining ground while California Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s standing has slipped.
According to Kalshi, Ossoff’s chances of becoming the Democratic nominee have climbed from 5 percent in January to 16 percent as of mid-July. During the same period, Newsom’s odds fell from 35 percent to 18 percent, while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez‘s rose from 10 percent to 15 percent.
“Gavin Newsom’s numbers have absolutely tumbled in the Kalshi prediction markets. An 18 percent chance. Still, maybe the nominal leader. But look who is up like a Hotlanta rocket, up to a 16 percent chance to be the 2028 Democratic nominee, Jon Ossoff, the senator from the great state of Georgia. AOC is right behind him at 15 percent. But the real mover, at least in terms of looking forward at this very early look, is Jon Ossoff, tripling his chances from 5 percent, actually more than tripling to up to a 16 percent chance,” Enten reported.
Google searches for Jon Ossoff
Enten also noted that Google searches for Ossoff have surged 300 percent this July compared with the same month in 2025, marking the highest level of search interest the senator has received.
“So it’s not just interest within Georgia. It is interest in Jon Ossoff nationally. And that is one of the reasons why he is, of course, making a lot of news. And also one of the reasons why he’s climbing those Kalshi prediction markets is because he’s making a lot of news,” Enten said.

Enten further pointed to Ossoff’s Senate reelection campaign, citing a Fox News poll showing the Democrat with a 13-point lead, and highlighted his fundraising haul so far into the election cycle.
“Look at this: $77 million — top fundraiser for Senate this century. Money is what makes a presidential bid go, and he’s shown an ability to raise a lot of it as the top fundraiser this cycle,” Enten said.
