missing non-verbal – Clayton County police are continuing an overnight search for Ramon Jett, a non-verbal 6-year-old who vanished Sunday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. from Sutter Lake Apartments on Webb Road in Riverdale, Georgia. Officers say his medical and mental health co

RIVERDALE, Ga. — The search for 6-year-old Ramon Jett is still moving after dark in Clayton County, with police officers deploying specialized teams and tactical resources to find a child who cannot verbally communicate.

Authorities say Ramon, who also goes by the nickname “RJ,” went missing Sunday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. from Sutter Lake Apartments at 8104 Webb Road in Riverdale. He is described as approximately 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 40 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

When he was last seen, Ramon was wearing a light green shirt, camouflage shorts, and white socks.

His mother, Ashleigh Harris, said Ramon has disappeared before, but “in a smaller area.” She said he had been staying with his older sister after they went swimming on Saturday. When the family woke up from a nap, Harris said, they found the door open and “everybody just got into search mode.”

“Anxiety, it’s a lot of anxiety, nervousness, but staying hopeful,” Harris said.

Harris urged the public to speak to Ramon using his nickname, explaining that he may be “a little standoffish,” but that being called “RJ” could help him feel more comfortable. She added that Ramon is drawn to numbers, letters, nursery rhymes, and similar things.

Police are asking residents to keep a close eye out for Ramon. Anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately. For non-emergency tips, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 770-477-4479.

Officials say the overnight hours are uniquely critical. They note Ramon is non-verbal and has a medical mental health condition, and that he may be unable to communicate or ask for help. Clayton County Police Department said those factors have raised severe concerns for his physical safety.

As the search continues. authorities also want people in the Riverdale area—especially near the 8000 block of Webb Road—to check their property right away. They specifically urged residents to look closely through yards. porches. outbuildings. wooded areas. and any places where a young child might shelter.

Community members have pointed to nearby water as part of the concern. They noted that Joy Lake is a significant body of water located a very short distance from the apartment complex where Ramon was last seen.

Not all details are settled. Officials have not confirmed the exact time Ramon was last seen or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Search coordinators also have not yet determined what direction Ramon was traveling after he walked away from the Webb Road block.

It remains unclear whether Ramon lives at the Sutter Lake Apartments or was simply visiting.

Outside the official sweep, a local neighbor, Demeca Evans, described the worry volunteers feel as they search a large area.

“This is a big complex,” Evans said as volunteers joined the effort. “I got kids and I got a grandson that age, and I would be devastated to know that he was not in our presence or missing. So I’m praying for the mother and the parents, and I really pray that you’ll find this baby.”

The information in the story was gathered from the Clayton County Police Department and a Nixle alert.

  1. Wait he went missing from an apartment and the door was open?? Like how does that even happen. I hope they’re checking the woods around there.

  2. Non-verbal but they want people to call him “RJ”?? That sounds like a TikTok trick lol. I mean I get it, but if he’s drawn to letters/numbers then maybe he wandered to a sign or something? Not sure.

  3. This is why I’m scared for every little kid. If he’s 3 ft 5 and 40 pounds he could be anywhere, like under a car or in a storage area. Also why was he at swimming then nap and suddenly vanished? I’m not trying to blame anyone, just… when it says overnight is critical, that’s terrifying.
