Sean Hannity explains prednisone caused his puffiness

Sean Hannity pushed back on weeks of speculation about his swollen appearance on Fox News, saying prednisone prescribed for a painful pinched nerve in his neck led to laryngitis and “some puffiness.”

Sean Hannity’s face became a talking point for days—until he finally addressed it head-on.

Taking to X on Wednesday afternoon. the Fox News star posted a health update after his appearance was heavily discussed across social media and the press. “Thanks to everyone who has checked in,” Hannity wrote. “I’ve already addressed this several times on my radio show. but while training. I developed a painful pinched nerve in my neck. My doctor put me on prednisone to reduce the inflammation. and while it’s helping. it led to laryngitis and some puffiness. which is normal for this medication.”.

He said he was “fine” and “recovering well,” adding that he is “still training.” Hannity also pointed to how quickly the conversation escalated: “apparently a few weeks of prednisone has generated more social media commentary than 30 years of ratings success.”

Hannity went a step further. thanking supporters and commenting on the attention itself. including “members of the left-wing media.” Before ending the note. he added a final jab at the speculation: “Sorry to disappoint them. but a pinched nerve. a raspy voice and a puffy face aren’t taking me out anytime soon.”.

The statement landed a day after fans flooded social media with questions about his appearance. including posts asking. “What TF happened to Sean Hannity’s face?” The scrutiny also spilled into late-night comedy. On Tuesday’s monologue. “The Daily Show” host Josh Johnson asked. “This is not the point. but what is going on with Sean Hannity’s face?”.

Johnson followed with jokes aimed at Hannity’s altered look. saying. “I mean. I have never seen white cheeks that big that hadn’t been rapped about.” He added that he wasn’t trying to mock Hannity’s looks while still pressing the issue: “but I mean. is he auditioning for a new chipmunks movie. where Alvin eats Simon and Theodore?. I bet you squirrels look at Hannity like, how my nuts taste?”.

Johnson then urged Hannity to respond directly. “It looks like the dentist added wisdom teeth … You can’t just walk in a room and sit down in front of a camera with a BBL on your face and act like we’re not going to notice. ” he said. before quipping that Hannity should “address this— anything.” The comedian also suggested what the moment needed most: “Like. sorry about my face. y’all. I’m currently going through a Nutty Professor type situation. It should be cleared up once I learn to love and accept myself for who I truly am.”.

Hannity’s Wednesday post appears to be an attempt to put the online speculation to rest, at least for those asking what caused the swelling in the first place.

  1. So he’s blaming a pinched nerve and prednisone… but his cheeks were like, REALLY different. I’m not saying it’s fake, just feels like too much of a coincidence. Also the Daily Show jokes were wild lol

  2. BBL on his face? I mean I saw that clip and I’m like… come on. If it was prednisone why would it look like plastic surgery tho? Doctors can reduce inflammation but cheeks don’t usually do that overnight. Something fishy.

  3. Good for him for finally saying something. But the way they all speculated like it was news-breaking for weeks… like people will literally ignore everything else. Also Josh Johnson is roasting him like crazy, but prednisone puffiness is real, I had laryngitis once and my voice sounded horrible. Everybody relax.
