Seahawks’ Drew Lock balling out against Cardinals earns 3-word DeMarcus Lawrence request

The Seattle Seahawks are 2-0 through the opening two weeks of the 2026 season despite losing starting quarterback Sam Darnold early in Week 1. Seattle has kept rolling with backup quarterback Drew Lock under center, as he has provided the production the team needed from him.

Lock guided the Seahawks to a Week 1 win over the New England Patriots before producing another impressive performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. Across those two games, he has completed 72.9% of his passes for 422 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Lock’s efficiency has not gone unnoticed, with teammate DeMarcus Lawrence praising the quarterback during Thursday’s media availability ahead of Seattle’s trip to Washington to face the Commanders.

“(He’s) exposed how talented he is,” the veteran linebacker said of Lock. “It is unique. Not that many backup quarterbacks in the league can do what Lock can do. Pay the man.”

The comments come as Lock enters a season that could further rebuild his value after difficult stretches with the Denver Broncos and New York Giants.

Lock was selected by the Broncos in the second round with expectations that he could become the team’s long-term answer, but that opportunity did not materialize. His subsequent stint with the Giants also didn’t lead to a permanent starting opportunity.

The Seahawks have given Lock another opportunity, and his 2-0 start has changed the conversation around his career.
