The Seahawks have officially been sold to the Khosla family.
The team announced the completion of the family’s deal to buy the team from the estate of Paul Allen. Vinod Khosla will hold the title of chair, Neeru Khosla will be the controlling owner and the couple’s son Neal will be the vice chair.
“We are honored and excited to begin this next chapter,” Vinod Khosla said in a statement. “The Seahawks are known for their championship culture, winning football, and a deep connection to the 12s and the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to engaging with the Seattle community and building upon the legacy and traditions that make this franchise so special. We would like to extend our gratitude to the investors joining our ownership group and to everyone who has supported us throughout the sale process.”
Allen purchased the team in 1997 and his sister Jody served as chair after his death in 2018. The Seahawks won two Super Bowl titles during that time, including Super Bowl LX in February. Their title defense will get underway and the Khosla’s first game as owners will take place at home against the Patriots on Wednesday, September 9.
