Samsung’s One UI 9 tests may start early on S25

A tipster says Samsung has begun internal testing of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25 lineup, with the first test build reportedly spotted about two weeks earlier than last year’s One UI 8 timeline. A One UI 9 beta for the S25 series could arrive as soon as this mo

The Galaxy S25 could taste Samsung’s next big software update earlier than anyone expected. The hint comes from a fresh leak about One UI 9, and it’s already reshaping the timeline people were mentally bracing for.

On X, tipster Tarun Vats says Samsung has started internal testing of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25 lineup. He also claims the first internal test build has been spotted, though the software version is encrypted—so he can’t extract any additional details from the build number.

If that report holds up, the timing matters. Vats points out that the first internal One UI 8 test build for the Galaxy S24 series wasn’t detected until June 19 last year. With One UI 9’s first internal test build reportedly showing up around two weeks earlier for the Galaxy S25 family. it suggests Samsung may be moving faster this year—at least on the development side.

That naturally pulls the next question into focus: when might users actually get a beta?

Vats’ replies in the same thread suggest a One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series could arrive as early as this month, while next month remains another possibility. He also cautions that beta timelines can shift, especially when development runs into unexpected roadblocks.

For Galaxy S24 owners, the news looks less promising. Asked whether Samsung would follow a similar testing schedule for the previous-generation lineup. Vats said it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. He further suggested Galaxy S24 users may have to wait until next month before seeing comparable signs of One UI 9 activity.

All of this still comes with the standard warning for pre-release leaks: Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything. Vats’ track record in Samsung-related developments is described as solid. but the exact rollout timing—how soon a beta actually lands. and how long S24 owners wait—will only be proven once Samsung makes its next move.

For now, the practical takeaway is simple for Galaxy S25 users: if internal testing really is already underway, the window for early One UI 9 access could be tighter than the one many were expecting.

  1. Encrypted test build = Samsung already broke it lol. If it’s “two weeks earlier” that’s still basically nothing, but people will act like it’s a miracle

  2. I swear every leak says “beta could arrive this month” and then it’s like 6 months later. Also why would they test faster on S25 but not S24?? feels unfair

  3. One UI 9 already? I thought Samsung just pushes updates whenever Twitter yells. My friend said One UI 8 bricked his phone (idk if true) so I’m skeptical. If beta starts early, I’m probably staying away anyway
