Saints fans are in their feelings watching Drew Brees receive Hall of Fame gold jacket

The New Orleans Saints entered 2026 with 11 Pro Football Hall of Famers. Quarterback Drew Brees is now the latest following his illustrious Saints career. His former head coach Sean Payton will earn the distinction of inducting Brees during Saturday’s ceremony.

But NFL legend Joe Montana earned the honor of placing the gold jacket on the Saints legend in Canton, Ohio before the official ceremony.

Former Saints players all handed Brees his roses, including this hype video narrated by longtime teammate Taysom Hill.

More ex-teammates from Alvin Kamara, Cam Jordan and Mark Ingram chimed in too on the moment before Brees’ ceremony.

Drew Brees’ official enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame will take place tomorrow.

Even the Saints’ social media accounts couldn’t help but react to the moment.

“Drew Brees in gold, it just makes sense,” the franchise posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Fans started to chime in including this Saints fan on X.

“Joe Montana putting a gold jacket onto Drew Brees! That’s what Drew Brees did for the New Orleans Saints. He lifted them up to the ranks of the greats. WHO DAT,” the fan posted.

One more fan reacted by saying he hoped to get a frame photo of Brees and Montana walking together.

Brees arrived via NFL Free Agency in the 2006 offseason. The city was recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it brought, including damaging the Superdome. Brees himself was seeking rejuvenation after his departure from the San Diego Chargers, then the Miami Dolphins backing out of signing Brees amid his shoulder injury.

But Brees galvanized the city by leading the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl win in the 2009 season. He later rewrote franchise records previously held by Archie Manning.
