Ruby Rose posts alleged texts from Hayden Panettiere about her mom before her death

Ruby Rose has posted alleged text messages from Hayden Panettiere in which the actress opened up about her difficult relationship with her mother, Lesley Vogel, before her death at 36.
Rose posted screenshots of the messages to Threads on Wednesday, August 19, after Vogel made comments about her daughter’s passing.
The text messages
The screenshots showed a contact saved as “Hayden” discussing her relationship with her mother and the pain that came with it.
In one of the alleged messages, the person listed as Hayden wrote, “I was sobbing over her cruelty yesterday thinking, my god I’m 36 and she can still cause this kind of pain.”
She continued, “I’m her only child left and this is how she wants to handle the situation?!”
Rose defends Panettiere
The Orange Is the New Black star also said the two had talked about starting a podcast or an Anthony Bourdain-style show. They wanted to tackle personal issues while traveling and finding ways to work through them.
Rose shared the alleged messages after Vogel spoke about her daughter’s death with NBC News.
During the interview, Vogel had harsh words for Panettiere’s on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, who was with her when she died. She said the family had spent years trying to get Panettiere away from him.
Vogel said she felt Panettiere had “lost her way” and gone down the “wrong path,” which led Rose to speak out.
Past comments
Panettiere had been pretty open about the ups and downs between her and her mother.
The actress said on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast in May that she ended their professional relationship when she was 19 because she wanted Vogel to just be her mother.
Panettiere recalled telling her mother, “I don’t want us to work together anymore. I just want you to be my mom.” According to Panettiere, Vogel replied, “You owe me.”
Cause of death
Panettiere also wrote about her relationship with her mother in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, which came out earlier this year.
The book touched on her struggles with addiction, mental health and difficult relationships, including some of what she went through before her death on August 16.
There’s still no official cause or manner of death for Panettiere. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said the autopsy found no trauma that contributed to her passing, while toxicology and other tests are still pending.
