St Kilda coach Ross Lyon was at his prickly best following his side’s loss to Fremantle, which saw this Dockers side pass his 2015 record of nine straight wins. The Dockers, who adopted the name Walyalup for Sir Doug Nicholls Round, won a club record 10th straight game to temporarily move themselves to the top of the AFL ladder after surging late to down the Saints by 30 points. Lyon helped set the previous record of nine wins when his Dockers side won nine straight
in 2015, and several current Dockers, including Andrew Brayshaw, Luke Ryan and Sam Switkowski, who all played on Friday, came to the club under his stewardship. However, when asked if he felt he had any connection or hand in helping mould the current Fremantle side, Lyon said he couldn’t care less. “Not one iota,” he said. “I just stay in the present. I’m really proud of the group, and we’re growing, you understand timelines, and I particularly understand the timeline it’s taken for them to
get to this point.” Lyon said while he was proud of his side’s effort as they took a slim lead early in the final quarter, his players were taught a lesson on the consistency required to be a contender. “I’m working really hard, shoulder to the wheel at St Kilda, and it’s really exciting times, and our young players saw the consistency that you need tonight,” he said. “But collectively we were in the game, but we just got to get a better method cause
we were in the game but came up short.” Lyon also shared his thoughts on Pat Voss, describing his antics as ‘a bit of a floor show.’ Voss spent most of his night getting under the skin of Callum Wilkie, while still managing to kick three goals in a decisive win for the cult Docker. “I thought the first 30 seconds were a bit bizarre, there was an umpire right there, but that’s ok, we’re all big boys, and we love the competitive spirit,” he
said. “But I’m not the umpire, it was interesting some of it early, but if they don’t pay it, it must be within the laws of the game. “I thought Wilkie still got to work, he had eight rebounds and in the end I think it it became a bit of a non-issue, I think it was just a bit of a floor show.”

Not gonna lie I don’t get the part about the name Walyalup… like did they change the team name mid-season or what? Also Ross Lyon at St Kilda now so why is he talking like he’s surprised?
“Floor show”?? That’s such a mean way to describe it, but also refs were involved in the first 30 seconds so I’m guessing it was totally a robbery. Wilkie had rebounds so I mean he did his job, right? Anyway AFL drama is wild, I just watch clips.
