Rookie Olivia Miles scores 24 as Lynx crush Wings

Olivia Miles delivered 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Minnesota Lynx coasted to a 100-76 win over the Dallas Wings for their eighth straight victory, moving to 10-2 and becoming the first WNBA team to reach 10 wins this season.

MINNEAPOLIS — Rookie Olivia Miles didn’t just score 24 points on Tuesday night; she ran Minnesota’s offense with a steadiness that never let the Dallas Wings breathe. Miles finished with seven rebounds and six assists. Kayla McBride added 22 points. and the Minnesota Lynx used a dominant first half to cruise to a 100-76 victory for their eighth straight win.

Natasha Howard scored 21 points and Courtney Williams contributed 16 as Minnesota improved to 10-2, becoming the first WNBA team to reach 10 wins this season. McBride was especially sharp from long range, knocking down four of Minnesota’s seven 3-pointers.

Dallas had plenty of individual fight but couldn’t change the rhythm. Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 23 points, while Arike Ogunbowale added 16 and Jessica Shepard finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, closed with six points on 2-of-12 shooting.

The game’s turning point came early. Four of Minnesota’s starters reached double figures by halftime. with Howard and Miles each posting 14 points and McBride and Williams adding 12 apiece. The Lynx built a 58-38 lead at the break. doing much of the damage through efficiency and spacing—Minnesota made 23 of 32 (72 per cent) field goals in the first half. including 6 of 8 3-pointers.

Minnesota never slowed after that. The Lynx led 75-60 entering the fourth, with 71 points coming from their starters. Williams capped the night’s march with a basket 30.7 seconds left to put Minnesota at 100 points for the third time this season.

Dallas and Minnesota then traded free throws late. combining to make 26 straight attempts before a miss with 56.8 seconds left in the fourth. When the buzzer finally sounded. it was the kind of performance that leaves a clear message: Minnesota’s offense had answers early. and it kept them right through the end.

The Lynx will play at Las Vegas on Saturday. Dallas hosts Phoenix on Thursday.
