Robinhood stumbles on SpaceX IPO Day surge

Robinhood intermittent – On SpaceX IPO Day, Robinhood saw record-breaking traffic and users reported intermittent outages, crashes, and latency. Downdetector logged more than 5,500 disruption reports, while Robinhood said essential systems recovered and teams kept monitoring.
When SpaceX shares started trading publicly, the moment looked simple: buy, sell, and move on. For a growing number of Robinhood customers, it didn’t feel that way.
Soon after trading began, users reported problems accessing the brokerage service. Service-outage monitoring site downdetetcor.com saw disruptions spike Friday morning, peaking at more than 5,500 reports. On Reddit and X, there were also numerous reports of Robinhood crashing.
Some users said they were unable to access the app at all. Others described a narrower window of functionality—able to place orders for SPCX before the application crashed.
Robinhood confirmed the issue in a post on X. calling it “intermittent.” The company said. “Robinhood saw record-breaking traffic today.” It added that “as a result. some customers experienced latency and intermittent issues.” Robinhood said “essential systems have recovered” and that its teams were “closely monitoring.” The post. from Robinhood Help (@AskRobinhood). is dated June 12. 2026.
Even with that statement, the replies suggested the technical problems were continuing for some people, at least into the aftermath of the IPO trading start. Robinhood didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The scramble wasn’t entirely new. Robinhood previously struggled during the 2021 meme stock craze. when technical issues flared alongside a surge of retail trading activity on the platform. A congressional report later revealed that executives and employees had struggled to keep up with the sudden influx of new users and the massive spike in trading volume.
For many customers. SpaceX IPO Day brought the same feeling—timing that matters. and infrastructure that gets tested exactly when attention is highest. On Friday. the traffic arrived fast. the service buckled for some. and the market move stayed out of reach for anyone still staring at a loading screen or an app that simply wouldn’t respond.

So the app crashed on SpaceX IPO day… figures.
I swear Robinhood always does this on big days. Like “essential systems recovered” but my feed was frozen for like an hour. I was trying to place an order and it kept saying latency or whatever. Maybe it’s just overloaded because everyone suddenly wants to buy SPCX?
Wait isn’t this the same company that got in trouble for meme stocks like 2021? So they still can’t handle traffic? I don’t even know what SPCX is, but if people could place orders then it wasn’t a full outage? Also downdetetcor.com lol who even makes these names.
This is why I don’t use Robinhood. They always wanna “save money” by cutting corners and then the day of Elon stuff it’s crashing. Sounds like a cybersecurity issue to me, like someone hacked it and slowed it down. If the market is opening and the app won’t load, that’s basically stealing your chance. Also why was it called “intermittent” if it was down for half the people?
