As previously reported, eight luchadors will face off in a tournament, with the winner challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title at Monday Night Raw in Mexico City on September 14. In a new WWE digital exclusive video, WWE Superstar and AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix shared his thoughts on being one of the participants in the tournament with Cathy Kelley before he’s interrupted by Ricky Saints.
Ricky Saints said that Fenix should be focused on being the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion, “or someone who is more absolute is going to come by and take it from you.” Saints appears interested in challenging Fenix for his AAA belt. Rey Fenix responded, “Try it! This title is for a real wrestler.” Ricky Saints said that he doesn’t want Rey Fenix choking on his own ambition and will see him around.
Fenix is set to face off against El Fiscal in the first round of the upcoming tournament on the August 17 edition of WWE Raw. His brother, Penta, is also competing in the tournament. If they all win their respective matchups, it means they will have to face each other in the finals to earn a title shot against Roman Reigns.
