Louth IT expert honoured for hospital ICT impact

A Drogheda man has been honoured by Tallaght University Hospital for his outstanding contribution to the organisation, receiving one of the hospital’s prestigious Staff Hero Awards. Ricky McKenna, who serves as ICT Operations Manager and Chief Information Officer at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH), was presented with the Unsung Hero Award during the hospital’s annual Staff Hero Awards ceremony on Thursday, June 25. The annual awards recognise staff members who go above and beyond in their roles to ensure patients receive exceptional care and to support
colleagues across the hospital. Mr McKenna was nominated by several colleagues, who praised his leadership and dedication to developing the hospital’s ICT services. In their nomination, colleagues said: “Ricky has consistently demonstrated humility and professionalism in all of his work and achievements. Alongside this, he has played a key role in driving the ICT strategy, development, and overall progress, helping to transform the service to the high standard we benefit from today.” The Unsung Hero Award recognises a staff member who demonstrates exceptional service to
the organisation, often making a significant impact behind the scenes. Presenting the awards, Tallaght University Hospital CEO Barbara Keogh Dunne paid tribute to all of this year’s winners. “All of those being recognised at these awards are a powerful example of what it means to go that extra mile for the patient, the community we serve and their colleagues,” she said. “I am proud and privileged to work alongside them.”
