For long-time fans, it’s a different kind of arrival: bittersweet, because Resident Alien has already finished. After four seasons and 44 episodes spanning 2021 to 2025, the eccentric sci-fi comedy-drama has officially reached the end of Harry’s journey. There are currently no plans for a fifth season, even as the series’ streaming presence keeps pulling in fresh attention.

Netflix. which introduced viewers to Harry Vanderspeigle and the town of Patience. Colorado—many of whom may never have seen the original series on Syfy—has helped spark a major resurgence. Resident Alien follows an Alien from another planet on a mission to destroy mankind. He crash-lands on Earth, kills a doctor who was vacationing in the town of Patience, Colorado, and takes his identity. From there. he lives in the town while he searches for a way to complete his mission—except the longer he stays. the more complicated “humanity” becomes.

Working alongside nurse Asta Twelvetrees (Sara Tomko), Harry slowly becomes entangled in the lives of Patience’s eccentric residents. Pretending to be human gets harder. Over time. the story turns toward what he didn’t expect to find: friendship. loyalty. grief. love. and the messy emotions that collide with his original assignment.

The show began as a fish-out-of-water comedy, built from laugh-out-loud moments driven by Alan Tudyk’s performance. His Harry has a distinctive way of speaking. can’t read the room. and remains very observant and deadpan when discussing humanity—traits that keep producing comedy. even as the character changes.

That emotional center expands through the ensemble. Tomko’s Asta acts as Harry’s conscience and closest friend. Alice Wetterlund’s D’arcy and Corey Reynolds’ Sheriff Mike bring humor and surprising depth. and even Patience’s residents—initially played like comic caricatures—become more fully realized as the series progresses.
