Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe Celebrate Deacon’s NYU Graduation

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe reunited to attend their son Deacon’s NYU graduation on May 15, joined by family and highlighted by a commencement speech from Laura Dern. Reese also marked the milestone with an Instagram tribute.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe weren’t letting their co-parenting history keep them from celebrating the biggest day in their family calendar.
Both were spotted in attendance for their son Deacon’s New York University graduation on Friday, May 15.. People shared exclusive photos from the ceremony showing Witherspoon. 50. in a dark blue dress with a white blazer and heels. while Phillippe. 51. attended in black pants and a white button-down shirt.
Deacon, 22, also had a post-graduation New York City moment of his own. After the ceremony, he was seen riding a bike through the city still dressed in a sharp black suit.
The celebration didn’t stop with just the parents.. Along with Deacon, Witherspoon and Phillippe share daughter Ava, 26, and she was there too, attending to support her brother.. Kate Hudson also turned the graduation into a full family affair. joining with her son Ryder. 22. whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson.. Hudson was there with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa, as well as her parents, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.
Hudson brought more than one familiar face to the day. Kate and Danny are also parents to a 7-year-old daughter, Rani, who attended the ceremony. Hudson’s ex Matt Bellamy, whom she shares son Bingham, 14, was reportedly in attendance as well.
For the official program, Big Little Lies co-star Laura Dern served as the commencement speaker.
Witherspoon later shared her own tribute online, posting a sweet Instagram photo carousel from the event.. In her caption. she celebrated the hard work behind the moment: “After 4years of hard work. long days . endless papers &classes. working with the greatest teachers and making new friends… my wonderful son graduated from @nyutisch !. I’m so proud of you @deaconphillippe,” she wrote.
From the ceremony to the bike ride afterward, the day looked like a rare, fully family-centered win—one Deacon’s loved ones made sure not to miss.
