The Ottawa Redblacks have relieved defensive co-ordinator Will Fields of his coaching duties, the CFL club announced Saturday.
The move comes midway through Fields’ second season with the organization and follows Ottawa’s 0-7 start to the season after a loss to the Montreal Alouettes on Friday.
Jeff Reinebold will take over as defensive coordinator and Nate Taylor will take over as special teams coordinator.
“These decisions are always difficult,” head coach and general manager Ryan Dinwiddie said in a statement. “Will is a quality coach and an even better person and we want to thank him for his contributions to the Redblacks organization over the past two seasons. We wish him all the best.”
Fields joined Ottawa ahead of the 2025 campaign after serving in coaching roles with the Edmonton Elks and Toronto Argonauts, winning a Grey Cup title with the latter in 2024.
The Redblacks allowed 34 points in Friday’s lopsided loss to the Alouettes and have given up 241 total points this season, ranking eighth in the league in points allowed.
