Rashee Rice’s time in custody is nearing an end. The Chiefs receiver is scheduled to be released from jail on Tuesday, June 16, after missing the team’s OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

Last month, Rice was required to serve 30 days immediately after testing positive for THC. The sentence came after he was sentenced to 30 days to be served at his discretion over the five-year term of his probation. following the resolution of charges arising from a March 2024 street-racing incident. Rice pleaded guilty last year to two felonies.

During that period. the court allowed a step that kept him moving while he remained incarcerated: he was ultimately permitted to exit the facility to rehab a knee on which he had surgery shortly before his incarceration. The court order allowing the release for rehab was entered on May 28. At his lawyer’s request, Rice was also moved from an “isolated cell” to general population.

The league, for its part, has not signaled additional punishment tied to Rice’s probation violation. He was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 season because of his guilty plea.

The timeline now points to a clean shift from confinement to the next chapter of Rice’s probation and football future. On Tuesday.
