Raptors sign Kyle Anderson to one-year depth

Raptors sign – Kyle Anderson has agreed to a one-year contract with the Raptors. The minimum-salary deal is expected to pay him about $3.88MM, with Toronto carrying a cap hit of approximately $2.45MM.
Kyle Anderson didn’t end up in some dramatic splashy move. He’s stepping into something quieter for Toronto: depth, experience, and a steady presence at forward.
The veteran forward, an unrestricted free agent, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Raptors. The agreement is set at a minimum-salary level, with Anderson expected to earn about $3.88MM on his deal while Toronto will carry a cap hit of approximately $2.45MM.
For the Raptors, the timing of adding Anderson matters because they’re building a rotation around established stars while still trying to keep the bench functional. Toronto will have 11 players under contract once the move is official.
Anderson brings a specific kind of value—less about highlight shooting. more about doing the unglamorous work that keeps games from tipping away. Across his career, he’s never been much of a shooter, converting just 34.0% of his 1.1 three-point tries per game. What he does instead is rebound, set up teammates, and defend.
Last season gave a clear snapshot of that role. In 2025/26, Anderson made a total of 43 appearances with Utah, Memphis and Minnesota. He averaged 6.2 points. 3.5 rebounds. 2.9 assists and 1.0 steal in 19.8 minutes per game—numbers that track closely with his career averages of 6.8 points. 4.2 rebounds. 2.8 assists and 1.0 steal in 21.4 minutes per game.
He’s entering his 13th NBA season and will turn 33 years old before the 2026/27 campaign begins. In Toronto. he’s expected to provide depth at forward behind Scottie Barnes and Kawhi Leonard. and he’s also likely to help guide younger players—specifically mentoring 2025 first-round pick Collin Murray-Boyles and 2026 first-rounder Allen Graves.
There’s also an added layer of familiarity in the fit. Anderson spent his first four years of his career in San Antonio playing alongside Leonard. who is returning to the Raptors after they agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Clippers. Anderson is also familiar with Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic, a former Grizzlies assistant.
The bigger picture for Toronto is simple: when games tighten. coaches lean on players who don’t need the ball to stay useful. Anderson’s track record—unconventional. effective. and built around compete—makes him the kind of piece that can stretch minutes without forcing the roster to reinvent itself.

So basically filler depth? Raptors really doing minimum deals now lol.
I swear Kyle Anderson never “does” anything but somehow he’s always on a roster. $3.88M for that seems like… fine? I guess defense and rebounds matter.
Wait I thought Kyle Anderson was a shooter though? Like every time I see him he’s just chucking threes in my head. Also why are they bringing him behind Kawhi and Barnes if he’s not a scorer? Confusing.
This is one of those quiet moves that won’t get talked about until the playoffs when he’s suddenly everywhere. Mentoring the rookies or whatever… but the bench still has to actually play, not just “provide depth.” Also Darko and Leonard connections sounds like a whole storyline I don’t fully get.
