Raptors lock in Webster extension after playoff push

Raptors extend – Toronto Raptors have agreed to a multi-year contract extension with general manager Bobby Webster and promoted him to executive vice president, with terms undisclosed. The deal follows a 46-36 season that returned the team to the playoffs and pushed Cleveland

The Raptors moved quickly after a season that felt like a turn back toward the postseason—agreeing to a multi-year extension with general manager Bobby Webster on Monday.

Toronto did not disclose the terms of the agreement. As part of the announcement, Webster was also promoted to executive vice president of the club, a shift that places him even more centrally in how the organization charts its next championship bid.

Webster spoke in a statement about building toward the next title. saying. “We’re building something special here. and I’m proud to continue to lead the Toronto Raptors as we work towards our next championship. Thank you to Keith and the MLSE Board of Directors for their confidence and support. This is a franchise that’s focused on the future, and we’re ready for what’s next.”.

MLSE CEO Keith Pelley backed the decision with a public endorsement of Webster’s approach. Pelley said. “Bobby has an elite understanding of the game and the NBA. and he’s used that to build a team that competes at a high level. It’s been an exciting year for the Raptors. They were a joy to watch compete together. and with Bobby and the Raptors. we’ve seen the results. and we believe in where his leadership will take us.”.

The extension comes immediately after the Raptors posted a 46-36 season, returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2022. Toronto then stretched the eventual Eastern Conference finalist Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in the first round—an outcome that carried real momentum into the offseason.

The Raptors’ decision also aligns with reporting that Webster would be extended shortly after the season ended. Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported that Webster would be extended. In that report, a source said, “He (Webster) is the captain of his own ship here.”

Toronto didn’t stop with Webster. The club also announced contract extensions for assistant general manager Dan Tolzman, Keith Boyarsky—its vice-president basketball strategy and research—and Tyla Flexman, the team’s operations lead.

Webster’s place in the franchise dates back years. He first joined the Raptors in June 2013 and is heading into his 10th season as Toronto’s general manager. Webster assumed full leadership in August 2025 after the dismissal of Masai Ujiri, who now runs the Dallas Mavericks.

In the background. those details matter because they frame why Monday’s announcement landed with weight: it wasn’t just a new contract for a top executive. but a reaffirmation of where the organization is putting its trust after a season that delivered a playoff return and a hard-fought series with Cleveland that wouldn’t end quickly.
