UFC Lightweight star Rafael Fiziev stole the show at UFC Baku this weekend, completing a dramatic second-round knockout victory over pressure fighter Manuel Torres at the National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan on Saturday night. Following an exciting list of fights leading up to the main event, Fiziev stole the show on home soil by dispatching his opponent with two rounds. an array of striking between both fighters, who had moments in backing each other up around the Octagon. Fiziev won the strength battle by bulldozing his opponent with a takedown in Round one while Torres got back to his feet by leaning on the fence. However, Fiziev continued to mix up his striking, landing a couple of stinging calf kicks. It was in the second round where Fiziev let loose as he wobbled Torres with a dramatic spinning wheel kick before ending the fight with
strikes on the ground. The fight was diluted with much controversy after Magomedov received a warning from referee Herb Dean for
pulling on his opponent’s hair, with no point deduction taking place. Pereira was then on the end of a nasty eye poke in the third Round, causing a two-minute halt to proceedings as Magomedov once again came away unpunished. However, Magomedov increased his activity during Round two and three as the Brazilian slowed down, providing little going forward.
