Quinte Conservation warns of storm surge and rising waves

Shoreline residents are reminded to remain vigilant to changes in water levels and weather forecasts. Lake Ontario water levels peaked on Lake Ontario on May 29 at an elevation of 75.49 m. If average rainfall is received, water levels will continue the seasonal decline over the summer. Nonetheless, water levels will remain above average over the coming months. Staff will continue to monitor conditions. For current water levels or to report changes in water levels, residents are encouraged to visit the Quinte Conservation website or
the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board website: https://ijc.org/en/loslrb. This advisory will be in effect until (or updated before) Monday, June 22. Quinte Conservation is a community-based environmental protection agency. It serves 18 municipalities in the watersheds of the Moira, Napanee and Salmon Rivers and Prince Edward County. It provides cost-effective environmental expertise and leadership. Quinte Conservation’s main goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem where people and nature live in harmony. More information about Quinte Conservation is available at www.quinteconservation.ca.

Storm surge?? So like… the lake is gonna flood everyone or what.
It says water levels peaked May 29 and then “decline” but still above average… cool cool so we’re still screwed later, got it. I wish they’d just say when it’s safe instead of all these websites.
Wait so is this about Lake Ontario going up from rainfall or from that dam stuff? Because I saw something online about water being “held back” and now they’re blaming storms. Either way people should just stop building right on the shoreline, honestly.
“Advisory until Monday, June 22” okay but storms don’t read calendars lol. Also 75.49 m means nothing to me, is that feet or meters? My grandma’s house is right there and she’s like “it’ll be fine” like she doesn’t understand rising waves. Guess I’ll check the Quinte Conservation site and then still ignore it.
