Quinnen Williams targets improved sacks with Cowboys

Quinnen Williams says he knows his pass-rush impact wasn’t where it needed to be in his first season with the Cowboys, but believes an offseason with the organization and new defensive coordinator Christian Parker can push him higher in 2026.

Quinnen Williams is closing out his first offseason with the Cowboys with one message clear in his own words: he knows he can be better than he showed last year.

After arriving in a trade with the Jets during the 2025 season, Williams said it has “been fun” to get a fuller sense of how the organization operates now that he has more time to be fully embedded. The goal, he explained, is a higher level of performance when games matter again.

Williams was selected for the Pro Bowl. but he also acknowledged that 2025 didn’t match the statistical production he expected from himself. He posted his fewest sacks since his rookie season. and speaking on Wednesday. he said he understands what needs to change. “I didn’t have my best year when it came down to it. statistically. as a pass rusher last year. ” Williams said. via the team’s website. “I wanna be better. I wanna do better, and not for myself, but for this team. And I know I can be better.”.

Part of his confidence is coming from a new voice in the defensive room. Christian Parker is the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator, and Williams pointed directly to the way Parker breaks down the game. “From the defensive scheme. and the defensive mindset. he’s extremely smart when it comes down to the defense of how he sees the game. ” Williams said. “It opened my eyes on when I could take my shots. when I can do certain things and constructive criticism from what he sees. and what I need to work on from his point of view. And [also] what he feels like I can do better from his point of view — the respect that he has for me to respect I have for him.”.

Williams’ offseason themes—more time with the Cowboys. clearer coaching feedback. and an expectation that his pass rush should look different—sit at the center of why his next step matters. The Cowboys gave up a lot to get Williams last year. and rediscovering his top form in 2026 would turn that bet into something closer to certainty rather than hope.

  1. I swear sack stats are just luck half the time. If he “knows” he can be better then why wasn’t it there last year? Also new coordinator… okay but defenses take time.

  2. So Christian Parker is the reason he’ll get more sacks in 2026? Seems like they coulda done this earlier. And the Jets trade part confused me like was he already good with them or nah. Pro Bowl doesn’t mean much if he’s posting the fewest sacks.

  3. They “gave up a lot” for him and now we’re supposed to wait another year… sounds like hope to me. I don’t really get how offseason time with the organization magically turns him into a sack machine. Last year he was invisible? I mean I watched some games and it felt like everyone else was doing the work.
