Jason Rich—an author of over 70 books. including “Optimize Your Daily Routine as a Busy Entrepreneur”—says he reaches for a newer Kindle option when he’s reading for pleasure. His choice is the Kindle Colorsoft. a color E Ink e-reader built around a 150 ppi display for color images and up to 120 nits of brightness. designed to make “pages and color images pop.”.

Rich’s reasoning goes beyond simple preference. He describes the Colorsoft’s color and glare-free display as something that changes how it feels to read for long stretches. “Unlike a traditional phone or tablet screen, the Kindle causes no eyestrain,” he said. He also framed his verdict as the result of comparing what’s out there: “Having tried out many of the eReaders on the market. I found this one to be the most versatile and enjoyable to read on.”.

For Rich, the appeal isn’t just the screen’s comfort. As an author. he wants to see content the way he says it was meant to be seen—especially when reading books with specific formatting and presentation. “As an author. I appreciate being able to see content from books the way the author and publisher intended. so a color screen is preferable to me. ” he said.

The Colorsoft’s color features also extend into how Rich interacts with the text. He says the color screen lets you highlight passages in different colors and organize them into categories—for example, quotes in yellow, facts in blue, characters to remember in purple.
