Popsicles recalled in four states after undeclared allergens

popsicles recalled – Federal regulators say De Dios’s Ice Pops II may contain undeclared milk, pecans, pistachios, Yellow #5, and Red #40, putting allergic consumers at risk. The company is voluntarily recalling 3.7-ounce D’dioses Fruit Pops sold in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylva
By the time most shoppers notice the warning, the frozen treats are already stacked in freezers—quiet, colorful, and ready to melt into a summer habit. This time, the habit comes with a sharp warning from federal regulators.
De Dios’s Ice Pops II is voluntarily recalling its 3.7-ounce D’dioses Fruit Pops after the Food and Drug Administration said the products may contain several undeclared ingredients that could trigger serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in some consumers.
The recall covers products distributed to retail grocery stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. The company said no illnesses had been reported at the time of the notice.
The FDA notice says the recalled 3.7-ounce D’dioses Fruit Pops—identified as De Dios’s Ice Pops II—may contain milk, pecans, pistachios, Yellow #5, and Red #40 that were not properly declared on the label.
The recall includes all products that were produced before April 27, 2026.
Flavors listed in the recall range from fruit-forward ice pops to creamier dessert-style varieties, including:
CocoFresa Con Leche
Arroz Con Leche
Mamey
Guayaba (guava)
Vanilla
Rompope
Nuez
Pistachio
Cookies And Cream
Piña Colada
Limon
Grocella
Mango
Tamarindo
Nanche
The action was launched after an FDA inspection found that the company’s manufacturing processes needed improvements to prevent allergen cross-contact—an accidental introduction of an allergen into a product that isn’t supposed to contain it.
De Dios’s Ice Pops II LLC said it has implemented corrected processes and new instructions after the inspection. Products made after April 27, 2026, were produced under new FDA-verified safety procedures and aren’t affected by the recall.
Even for people who keep up with allergen labels, the stakes here are immediate. The FDA says food-allergic reactions can range from relatively mild symptoms—such as hives or lip swelling—to anaphylaxis, a life-threatening emergency that can involve breathing problems and shock.
Federal regulators also point out that nine major allergens are responsible for most reactions in the U.S. Food Allergy Research & Education says about 33 million people in the U.S. live with at least one food allergy, including roughly one in 13 children. A separate review cited by the FDA says about 200. 000 Americans require urgent medical care for food-allergic reactions each year. sending someone to the emergency department about every three minutes.
The recall also includes two synthetic color additives: FD&C Yellow No. 5 (Yellow #5) and FD&C Red No. 40 (Red #40).
Both colorings are petroleum-based synthetic dyes that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the FDA said in April 2025 that they were seeking to phase out of the U.S. food supply. Federal officials said the colorings offer no nutritional benefit and pointed to growing concerns about their potential effects on children’s health and development.
While the move didn’t ban the dyes in food overnight, it signaled a major regulatory shift and intensified scrutiny over additives that remain in brightly colored snacks, drinks, and frozen desserts like these.
Consumers are being told not to eat the recalled popsicles—especially if they or someone in their household has an allergy or sensitivity to milk, pecans, pistachios, Yellow #5, or Red #40.
The company says shoppers should return the recalled popsicles to the place of purchase for a full refund. It also stresses that only products made before April 27, 2026, are affected.
Anyone who has eaten the product and experiences symptoms of an allergic reaction—including swelling, hives, trouble breathing, or signs of anaphylaxis—should seek medical help immediately.
