Pixar Still Says “No” to Toy Story 6 Plans

Will there – Toy Story 6 isn’t confirmed by Pixar, but director Andrew Stanton says the franchise could keep rolling—if the story fits and the cast wants to return. With talks sparked by Toy Story 5 now in theaters, fans are left weighing what’s next for Woody, Buzz, Jessi

When Toy Story 5 landed in theaters, it didn’t just bring Woody and Buzz back—it reopened a question that’s been buzzing through fan communities ever since Pixar’s Toy Story franchise took off: is a sixth movie actually on the way?

Pixar has not confirmed Toy Story 6. Still, the creative team and much of the cast have spoken openly about wanting to return for another chapter built around Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang.

That desire is echoed most clearly in director and esteemed animator Andrew Stanton’s comments from April 2026. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Stanton looked back at how the earlier film was already poised to be a wrap. He believed Toy Story 4 was “the actual perfect place to end the saga.”.

But the story didn’t stop there. Instead, Stanton explained that once momentum was found again, the process could move fast. He told the publication that with just two months of brainstorming ideas, “two additional Toy Story movies could be cranked out.”

That line lands hard for fans hoping for Toy Story 6 because it turns a vague wish into something closer to a real production possibility—at least on paper. Stanton also said. “That’s why I feel like it can keep going. ” speaking to his confidence that more chapters could happen if the right pieces fall into place.

The next question is how many. Stanton said the number could extend beyond just one more film, but it would depend on the storyline and on whether the cast is willing to reprise their roles.

In the same EW interview, Stanton also spoke about his own future at Pixar. He described a sense that he’d keep working on more Pixar films until he’s “in a rocking chair somewhere. ” adding that he’ll always have “a strong opinion about this.” He couldn’t specify whether that “this” meant Toy Story in particular. but he did frame it as the best way he can leave his mark at Pixar—“teaching others how this is done.”.

Taken together, Stanton’s comments leave room for Toy Story 6, and potentially Toy Story 7 as well—though the franchise still has one hard limit: Pixar hasn’t officially confirmed a sixth movie.

For now. fans are left with the tension between what the creative side believes is possible and what Pixar has chosen not to announce yet. Toy Story 5 may have arrived as a new challenge for the toys in a world shaped by modern technology. but the bigger cliffhanger sits in real life: what the studio decides to do once the brainstorming clock starts ticking again.

  1. I don’t get it, Pixar says no but also “it can keep going”?? Like which one is it. People keep talking about Woody and Buzz coming back like Disney isn’t gonna milk it anyway.

  2. Andrew Stanton saying they could crank out 2 more movies in 2 months is wild, but also sounds made up. Plus if the cast doesn’t want to do it again then it’s not really “Toy Story” without em, right?

  3. Toy Story 4 already “ended the saga” so Toy Story 6 plans feel like a cash grab attempt… but also I kind of want it? However if they do 6 and 7 then they’ll ruin Jessie or something, like that always happens. Also I saw a TikTok say it’s confirmed already so I’m confused.
