Radio City Music Hall felt a little more like home Sunday night, and it was Pink who made sure of it.
The Grammy winner, 46, kicked off the 2026 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7, opening the show by calling herself “Broadway’s biggest fan” — “well second biggest next to my daughter, Willow.”
“I don’t know where she is [in Radio City]. but I did not take this job so my kid could get Broadway selfies. although [we have backstage before tonight ] … and a couple for mama. ” she joked in her opening monologue. blending the glitz of Broadway with the warm chaos of a parent trying to share the moment without losing control of it.
Willow Sage Hart, 15, wasn’t just part of the speech. She joined her mom on the red carpet, where they were joined by Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, and son Jameson.
Pink had already made it clear that this moment was built on family permission, not assumption. In an April statement, she said she didn’t want to host the Tonys without getting her daughter’s buy-in.
“When I was asked to host the Tonys. I immediately thought. ‘I have to get permission from my daughter. ’” Pink said. “I’ve never been on Broadway, and shouldn’t you have to have been on Broadway in order to host?. That seems fair and right. But when I asked my daughter. she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys. so I’m hosting the Tonys and I’m really. really excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!”.
Her excitement has been matched by determination at home. Earlier this month. Pink explained the family’s decision to relocate to New York City so Willow could pursue her Broadway dreams. On Tuesday. June 2. during a Tuesday appearance on CBS Mornings. Pink said Willow is “musical theater obsessed” and that her daughter followed her around “the world her whole life. on and off tour.”.
“I told her, ‘It’s your turn. We’ll follow you,’” Pink recalled. “That’s what we do for our kids. We show up.”
Pink also described how tough-minded Willow can be about her own future. As she praised Willow’s drive — calling her “phenomenal” and “very talented” — she said she wouldn’t pretend to be blindly supportive if she ever doubted the path. “I would be like, ‘You can’t do that,’” Pink said. “I would say it in a nicer way. I’d be like, ‘Maybe?. Also, science.’”.
She compared Willow to herself as a teenager. including a vivid detail about how nervous she used to be when singing for friends. “She’s more talented than I ever was at her age,” Pink said. “And she’s also just really earnest. she’s a hard worker. she’s an A-plus student.” She added that Willow once told her. “I want to get Broadway out of the way so I can be a trauma surgeon.”.
“She’s so confident, and she walks through the world with such poise and grace,” Pink continued. “I’ve seen her on stage and I’m like, ‘Who is that person?’”
By early June. Pink was already giving another update — this time with the kind of teasing pride that sounds like a parent watching a kid sprint ahead. On Wednesday, June 3, in an interview with E!. News. she said Willow is “now finally at the age where she would like to do her own thing. ” adding with a laugh. “which I think is boring.”.
“She’s doing the damn thing,” Pink said. “She’s in cabarets for charity, she’s in workshops, she just did Carrie the musical, which was dark. She’s killing it.” Pink said she tells Willow to keep the basics close: “I told her she just has to work hard and be a good person. and show up and be a good teammate and work hard.”.
At the Tony Awards, all of that buildup landed in one bright, personal moment: a host with the biggest microphone in Broadway reminding the room — and her daughter — that this dream has always been shared, even when it’s fiercely earned.
