Penneys rejects home-delivery launch rumours as rivals circle

Primark has addressed rumours that it is finally launching home delivery. The retail giant , known as Penneys in Ireland, is one of the most popular clothing stores both here and over in the UK, and is best known for its affordable, trendy fashion. However, despite bringing in billions in revenue each year, the retailer has yet to implement home delivery, something shoppers have consistently expressed a desire for. Instead, you can check the current stock online and see if it is available in your
nearest store. If you live in the UK, you can also use click and collect to save time on browsing. The British newspaper The Times has reported that Primark could be “preparing to launch online delivery for the first time” due to mounting pressure from rival retailers. The paper says its sources told them that Primark “knows it needs to go online” after it lost to Marks & Spencer in a bidding war for an Asos state-of-the-art online fulfilment centre in Staffordshire. Now, the budget
retailer has addressed these rumours and clarified its stance on home delivery. A spokesperson for Primark told RSVP Live that the chain is not ‘launching online’: “Our position on home delivery remains unchanged. As part of regular reviews of our distribution network to support future growth, we explored this site as a potential option for our Click & Collect service in Great Britain.” Penneys could face some competition in Ireland soon, as another major clothing chain is set to open in Dublin. The popular German
outlet New Yorker stocks denim, streetwear, and sporty clothes, and prides itself on staying on top of the latest trends, much like Bershka and Stradivarius, but offers more affordable pricing that is similar to Penneys. The fashion retailer is looking to take over an empty rental unit that used to house UK womenswear brand Wallis in Dublin City’s central Jervis Shopping Centre, and has applied for planning permission to install signage facing onto Mary Street, next to Marks & Spencer. Shoppers are already getting excited
about the store’s opening and are sharing their thoughts online, with one saying: “Love this shop. it’s brilliant. Good quality stuff and so much cheaper than Pennys.” Want to see more of the stories you love from RSVP ? To add RSVP as a preferred source of news on Google, simply click here
