Peacock greenlights Dungeon Crawler Carl straight-to-series

Peacock greenlights – “Dungeon Crawler Carl” is making the leap to TV fast. Author Matt Dinniman confirmed Thursday that Peacock has ordered the series straight-to-series, sharing the announcement on Instagram and teasing more details ahead of an SDCC panel.
Peacock moved quickly, and Matt Dinniman didn’t hold back the moment he could. On Thursday, the author behind “Dungeon Crawler Carl” confirmed that the TV adaptation of his popular book series has received a straight-to-series order.
Dinniman shared the news on Instagram, writing: “Surprise! I’m happy to announce that our friends at Peacock have *officially* greenlit the Dungeon Crawler Carl television series! Me, Chris Yost and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work.”
He followed up with what’s next for fans. “In the coming weeks I’ll have more details, and if you’re going to SDCC be sure to catch me and Chris on our DCC panel. In the meantime I wanted to thank you, the fans, for helping make this happen.”

Peacock also confirmed the news with a logline that leans hard into the series’ dark-comic premise. The adaptation centers on an alien invasion that “has wiped out most of humanity. ” leaving any survivors to be pushed into “a sadistic intergalactic game show.” The chaos doesn’t stop at monsters and aliens: the show description promises that survival means dealing with “a stuck-up. self-centered. tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner.”.
In that world. Carl—described as “Coast Guard vet Carl”—ends up teamed with “his ex-girlfriend’s award-winning show cat. Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk.” The logline spells out the stakes with a punch: the apocalypse is “televised. ” and the fight becomes both survival and entertainment. including “an insane A.I. and even other survivors … all for the sake of good TV. Survival is optional. Entertainment is not.”.

The series is being developed by Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door, along with Universal Global Television. Dinniman will co-executive produce with Chris Yost, who adapted the hit book series for television.
Additional executive producers named for the project include MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald from Fuzzy Door.
