Paris faces 35C as orange heat alert persists

Forecaster Météo-France lifted the orange alert heatwave warning for the départements of Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine and Mayenne on Friday, as cooler Atlantic air brought relief to parts of northwestern France. Temperatures in Brest were forecast to fall to 20C on Friday, down from 29C the previous day, while Rennes was expected to see highs of 31C after reaching 35C on Thursday. In Biarritz, temperatures were set to drop from 34C to 23C. Conditions were also expected to improve in parts of southern France, with sea breezes
lowering temperatures across Languedoc-Roussillon. Montpellier was forecast to reach 29C, compared with 36C on Thursday, while Perpignan was expected to see highs of 32C after temperatures approached 38C a day earlier. Despite the cooler conditions in some areas, 11 départements remain under an orange heatwave alert: Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Charente-Maritime, Charente, Gironde, Paris, Deux-Sèvres, Vendée, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. Paris is expected to experience the hottest conditions on Friday, with temperatures forecast to hit 35C. According to Météo-France, the heatwave is expected to continue through Saturday
before a more significant drop in temperatures arrives on Sunday.
