Owala’s new crossbody bags can hold a water bottle — but is lululemon Everywhere belt bag better?

Owala’s bag family is growing fast. The drinkware giant just released two crossbody bags, and they rival the ever-popular lululemon Everywhere belt bag in many ways.

The crossbody launch

Owala released two crossbody bag styles — the 1L Daily Crossbody for $40 and the 3.5L All-Day Crossbody for $70.

The new crossbody bags come in seven colors, depending on size, and two material types — ripstop and smooth weave.

Owala crossbody bag features

There are several features of the new Owala crossbody bags that I personally like — but the real standout is that they can hold your Owala water bottle.

The smaller 1L Daily Crossbody has a carabiner that slips onto your FreeSip Water Bottle handle. The larger 3.5L All-Day Crossbody Bag has an actual internal compartment that fits an Owala 32 oz FreeSip Water Bottle or 30 oz FreeSip Sway Bottle.

The Owala Daily Crossbody Bag includes:

  • Smaller 1 L capacity
  • Adjustable 34-55-inch strap size
  • Key clip
  • Split mesh pocket & hidden zippered pocket
  • Paracord loops for more carrying options
  • Easy to clean ripstop or smooth weave material

The Owala All-Day Crossbody Bag includes

  • Larger 3.5 L capacity
  • Adjustable 38.5-60-inch strap size to fit a range of sizes
  • Bottle compartment that holds an Owala 32oz FreeSip water bottle or 30oz FreeSip Sway bottle
  • Front pocket with key clip & inside mesh pocket for the essentials
  • Large main compartment to hold even more
  • Hidden back zippered pocket for valuables
  • Paracord loops to carry multiple ways
  • Easy to wipe clean ripstop or smooth weave material

How does Owala’s crossbody bags compare to lululemon’s Everywhere belt bags?

While lululemon’s Everywhere belt bag has become a viral sensation, I would lean towards Owala’s new crossbody bags for several reasons.

The main factor in this decision is that the Owala crossbody bags can carry a water bottle, which I find a handy feature. This is a major feature that lululemon’s bags don’t have.

More to consider

Size: While both bags come in a 1L size, you can pick up Owala’s All-Day Crossbody in the larger 3.5L size, which lululemon doesn’t offer. lululemon does have a 4L belt bag, but it has a slightly different look than its classic Everywhere bag.

Price: The price tags on the Owala crossbody bags and lululemon belt bags are extremely competitive. You can grab a lululemon 1L Everywhere bag for just $38 compared to Owala’s $40 price tag. But the price difference is minimal for this size.

Cleaning: Both bags wipe clean easily, but the lululemon Everywhere belt bag is water repellent. I should know because I do have the lululemon Everywhere belt bag (Read my review of the lululemon Everywhere belt bag here)

Are crossbody bags still in style in 2026?

Yes, crossbody bags just never seems to go out of style. They only get better with each release. New brands introducing crossbody bags, like YETI, are getting more savvy with their designs by adding enhanced features and functionality.

Are people still wearing crossbody bags?

Yes, because of the multiple ways to wear crossbody bags and their ability to keep your hands free, people continue to buy and wear them. They come in such a wide variety of styles, colors and designs, so it’s pretty easy to find a crossbody that meets your needs.

Plus, with the rise of fanny packs, crossbody bags offer a hybrid option that still provides functionality without the feeling of stepping back in time.
