Outside Lands adds Grammy winner to lineup less than an hour before his set

Surprise! Outside Lands just added Leon Bridges to the lineup — less than an hour before he is set to perform on the final night of the festival.

Set to close out the Duboce Triangle stage at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, the Grammy-winning Texas singer-songwriter is the second high profile guest to be added to the festival’s lineup in the last week.

San Francisco-based producer Tycho was announced as the festival’s first surprise performer just two days before delivering an extended DJ set to a packed afternoon crowd at the intimate stage in McLaren Pass on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Bridges teased his own appearance Sunday afternoon, posting a photo of himself in San Francisco to his Instagram Story hours before Outside Lands revealed his set on social media.

The last-minute performance comes as Bridges prepares to release his fifth studio album, “Happiness Anytime,” on Sept. 25 via Columbia Records. The 12-track record was produced by J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto of Jungle and follows his 2024 album, “Leon.”

The “River” singer last performed in the Bay Area at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley in October 2024.

Sunday’s set marks Bridges’ third time at Outside Lands twice, having previously performed at the Golden Gate Park festival in 2015 and 2019.

The three-day festival is coming to a close, with final performances from headliner Rüfüs Du Sol, rapper Baby Keem and rock group Death Cab for Cutie, who will be playing their second set of the day.
