The series. inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s internationally bestselling novels. brings the Frasers back home to a settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence.. Season 8’s story builds toward a turning point long anticipated by viewers, including the fateful battle at King’s Mountain and Jamie’s death. In an interview with USA TODAY, Sam Heughan said: “Fate and Jamie—I think he’s always known that there would be something big to face.”
Caitríona Balfe, who plays Claire, said she still doesn’t know exactly how the show will end.. She added that executive producer and showrunner Matt Roberts had “put some dummy things in. because he didn’t want it to leak.” Heughan said the crew filmed multiple options specifically to avoid spoilers finding their way out.
“We obviously know what we shot,” he said. “There was definitely an ending that I thought should happen and a lot of people pushed for. But I’m as excited as the fans are.”
