Oreo’s New Chicken-Flavored Cookie Has Fans Completely Grossed Out

- Oreo has reportedly released KFC Spicy Chicken and Caramel Popcorn flavors in China.
- The KFC cookie features chicken-flavored creme and KFC-themed embossing.
- Fans are reacting with plenty of confusion, horror, and curiosity.
We’ve seen enough limited-edition Oreo cookies over the years to know that the brand is very willing to send its classic chocolate cookie into unexpected territory. But with its latest releases, our list of the most outrageous Oreo flavors ever made suddenly feels a little tame.
Food blogger @snackolator shared on Instagram that Oreo has released two new flavors in China: KFC Spicy Chicken Oreos and Caramel Popcorn Oreos.
According to the post, the KFC collab features Oreo cookies with a layer of KFC chicken-flavored creme. The cookies also have special embossing, with KFC branding in place of the usual Oreo logo. One design shows what looks like a chicken drumstick in the center of the cookie, while the Caramel Popcorn Oreo features a little popcorn bucket design.
I can understand Caramel Popcorn Oreos. That sounds like something you could bring to a movie night—sweet, salty, maybe a little buttery. KFC Spicy Chicken Oreos, however, are where I draw the line.
Some foods are at their best when they stay in their own lanes. Fried chicken is doing great as fried chicken. Oreos are doing great as Oreos. Not every collab needs to become a sandwich cookie.
Fans in the comments seemed to feel similarly.
“Why would they make the kfc ones when they could make edible ones,” one person wrote. “They can stay in China lol,” another commented.
Others were willing to meet Oreo halfway, but only halfway. “I’ll try the second one not the first that’s where I draw the line,” one fan wrote.
And one especially concerned Oreo loyalist had a very direct message: “Stop messing with the Oreos!”
The flavors don’t seem to be hitting U.S. markets, at least for now, which is probably for the best. Some international snack releases are meant to be admired from a safe distance.
