Oregon HC Dan Lanning’s blunt take on Oklahoma State loss: ‘Got our a** kicked’
Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning doesn’t sugarcoat his reaction to his team losing to the unranked Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The No. 6 Oregon Ducks fell 39-31 to the unranked Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday. It was an ugly loss as the program couldn’t get anything rolling throughout the contest. When asked about his team’s performance, Dan Lanning made sure not to sugarcoat his feelings.
While talking with media members after the game, the 40-year-old head coach admitted that the Cowboys whooped the Ducks’ butt, according to Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian. Lanning gave Oklahoma State head coach Eric Morris credit for putting together a solid game plan to take down Oregon.
“It really was, because it wasn’t close in a lot of ways,” Lanning said. “We got our a** kicked in a lot of areas. Tons of credit to coach Morris and his staff.”

Although it was just a one-possession loss, the Ducks were completely outplayed by the Cowboys. Oregon was out-gained 554 to 281 in total yards, with quarterback Dante Moore finishing with 191 passing yards and two touchdowns while completing just 48.2% of his pass attempts.
The only real reason Oregon managed to keep the game close was because of two tipped interceptions that led to touchdowns for the Ducks. If Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker didn’t make those mistakes, this contest would have been a much more dominant win for the Cowboys.
