One UI 8.5 reaches cheap Galaxy phones across Asia

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 rollout is expanding to more Galaxy devices, including budget 5G models like the Galaxy A07 5G in multiple Asian markets and the Galaxy M55 in India. The update brings refreshed visuals, a customizable Quick Panel, Direct Voicemail, new ca

For people still waiting on Samsung’s newest software to reach their phones, One UI 8.5 is moving in a direction that feels a little more personal than usual: it’s starting to land on some of the cheapest Galaxy handsets first seen as unlikely recipients.

The rollout is already making its way to the Galaxy A07 5G, one of Samsung’s lowest-cost 5G options. One UI 8.5 has started receiving on the phone in several Asian markets—Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Samsung’s cheaper lineup isn’t being treated like an afterthought this time.

In India, the Galaxy M55—described as a two-year-old mid-range device—has also received the update. Along with the new software comes the May 2026 security patch, and a refreshed set of interface visuals that Samsung is presenting as part of One UI 8.5’s broader redesign.

The changes aren’t just cosmetic. One UI 8.5 includes a customizable Quick Panel and Direct Voicemail on both the Galaxy A07 5G and the Galaxy M55. On the Galaxy M55 specifically, Samsung is adding new camera filters. The update also brings an upgraded Bixby powered by Perplexity AI. a feature Samsung frames as one of the standout additions in One UI 8.5—even among the bigger AI tools already associated with Galaxy S26 and the One UI 8.5 wave that followed.

If you want to check whether One UI 8.5 has reached your device, Samsung’s guidance is straightforward: open Settings, then Software Update.

The story gets more interesting for Galaxy S25 owners. because One UI 8.5 may not be the end of the road for the “new” Galaxy S26 features. There’s the possibility—linked to a June 2026 One UI 8.5 update—that AI notification tools from the Galaxy S26 could make their way down to the Galaxy S25 series.

The features mentioned are Priority and Summarize Notifications. Priority Notifications uses AI to rank important alerts when surfacing them. Summarize Notifications condenses chats without requiring you to open the app. Neither feature is confirmed for the Galaxy S25 series. but the idea fits what Samsung has already done in the first wave of One UI 8.5: advanced AI tools that debuted with the Galaxy S26 have already trickled down. including Audio Eraser. Creative Studio. Call Screening. and an updated Photo Assist.

The sequence is simple and easy to miss until it happens to your phone: One UI 8.5 is arriving on lower-cost devices with specific feature bundles—then the same AI story is potentially being extended again to more premium models later. For now. what’s confirmed is the rollout itself: Galaxy A07 5G in Malaysia. Philippines. Thailand. Taiwan. and Vietnam; Galaxy M55 in India; refreshed visuals. customizable Quick Panel. Direct Voicemail. and the May 2026 security patch; plus camera filters on the M55 and a Perplexity AI-powered Bixby upgrade.

  1. Direct Voicemail?? I don’t even know where to find that on my phone lol. Also May 2026 security patch sounds fake because it’s 2024 right now right?

  2. Wait the M55 got it too? That’s wild because I thought Samsung only updates the expensive S stuff. “Upgraded Bixby powered by Perplexity AI” sounds like they just put AI on everything and call it a feature. Does it actually work or is it just for show?

  3. I saw “Quick Panel” and “camera filters” and I’m like ok cool but why are they pushing it on random Asian models first? I’m in the US and my update always takes forever… unless they’re doing it on purpose so the A07 people don’t complain as much. Also it says Samsung guidance is Settings > Software Update which is always the same answer, like thanks Samsung.
