Olympic runner Sha’Carri Richardson pleads no contest in Florida super speeder case
Richardson was arrested in January
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – World-renowned runner Sha’Carri Richardson is changing her original plea in her Florida super speeder case as part of a plea deal.
Richardson was arrested in January in Orange County after deputies say she was clocked going 104 mph along State Road 429 near Stoneybrook Parkway.
Deputies said she was seen “dangerously tailgating” and crossing lanes to pass other drivers.

Richardson originally pleaded not guilty, but by changing her plea, she avoided jail time.
She does have to pay a $500 fine, complete 100 hours of community service, and take an eight-hour driving class.
Richardson obtained prominence after she took gold for the 100m at the 2023 World Championships and the Olympic relay in 2024.
More recently, Richardson won the 100m race at the U.S. track and field championships in July.
