The plan is simple enough to sound like a dream until you see the details line up: Olivia Rodrigo is bringing a full day of music—centered on women and led by artists who asked to be part of something bigger—to Great Park in Irvine, California.

Daisy Chain Fields is set for August 29. Rodrigo revealed the news in Pitchfork’s latest zine, telling contributor Shaad D’Souza, “I actually feel like it’s my calling in some weird way. I…have had this dream to do this festival for a really long time.”

The day comes with a booking philosophy as clear as its lineup. The inaugural event draws direct inspiration from Lilith Fair. and features an all-day roster of only female artists or female-fronted bands. Among the announced performers are Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Mitski, the Breeders, Garbage, Katseye, Santigold, and Rachel Chinouriri.

Rodrigo’s festival also makes room for rising acts, listing Not for Radio, Die Spitz, Quiet Light, and Eli. And then there’s the star power stacked at the top: special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan.

Tickets go on presale this Wednesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. EST—timing that lands close enough to the moment the announcement hit to feel immediate, not distant.

Rodrigo’s pitch for Daisy Chain Fields isn’t only about the sound. Net profits from ticket sales will be directed toward nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. including the Center for Reproductive Rights. Planned Parenthood. and Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health. The plan also includes other listed participating organizations: Baby2Baby. Black Mamas Matter Alliance. FreeForm. Jhpiego. National Domestic Workers Alliance. National Institute for Reproductive Health. National Women’s Law Center. and Planned Parenthood.

The artists’ involvement is part of why the festival’s mission reads as more than a slogan. All of the artists have agreed not to take a profit from their performances.

Rodrigo told D’Souza she hopes Daisy Chain attendees will feel the same kind of connection that Lilith fans had in the late 90s. “I feel really connected to the young girls that come to my concerts. and the fact that I get to be in the fabric of their lives is a real. true honor that I don’t take lightly. ” she said. She added. “I just feel like we need something really positive to do and see. and young girls need awesome role models who are supporting other women and who are engaging in something that’s really joyful and musical and community-oriented.”.

  1. So it’s like Lilith Fair 2.0? I’m down, just hope it doesn’t get cancelled like everything else lately.

  2. Women-only festival is gonna be a mess in the comments. Like can dudes just not go? Because it says women-only but then it says female-fronted bands, so who decides.

  3. Wait, “net profits” go to like Planned Parenthood and reproductive stuff, right? I mean good for the causes, but I swear I saw Sarah McLachlan like twice already this year lol. Also Great Park in Irvine is gonna be impossible to park at.

  4. I don’t get the “calling” part, sounds like marketing. Also Pitchfork zine… so is this just another subscription thing? If tickets are presale June 24 at 1pm, that’s tomorrow for me?? I’m confused on the time zone. Anyway, Garbage + Bikini Kill is kinda iconic, wish I lived closer.
