Oliver Tree and Gaspi Die as Helicopters Collide Brazil

Singer Oliver Tree, real name Oliver Tree Nickell, and Argentinean YouTuber Gaspi (Gaspar Prim) were among six people killed after two helicopters collided in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, southwest of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, June 14.

The singer, 32, whose real name is Oliver Tree Nickell, died in the accident along with Argentinean YouTuber Gaspi, or Gaspar Prim, 23. Both were among six fatalities after two helicopters crashed on Sunday (June 14), with the death toll split between the two aircraft.

A total of five people were killed in one helicopter. and the pilot of the other aircraft was also among the fatalities. according to confirmation shared through Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro. The pilots and passengers named in the aftermath were Oliver Tree Nickell (passenger). Lucas Vignale (passenger). Gaspar Prim (passenger). Lucas Brito Chaves (passenger). Alexandre Souza (pilot). and Charles Marsillac (pilot).

Oliver had reportedly just performed in São Paulo, and he was expected to play in Portugal next. His Instagram Story the day of the crash showed him working in a studio on music. Gaspi was reportedly on the same aircraft as Oliver.

The helicopters reportedly crashed in a parking lot with several cars. Approximately 20 vehicles were hit and caught fire.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) said investigators from the Third Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA III). based in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). were called to carry out the initial action of the incident involving two aircraft with registration numbers PP-MAC and PR-DJJ. The FAB added that qualified and accredited professionals used techniques for data collection. confirmation. preservation of evidence. initial verification of damage caused to or by the aircraft. and gathering other information needed for the investigation.

The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) also confirmed it is investigating the air accident involving two helicopters on June 14 in Rio de Janeiro. ANAC said cause investigations will be conducted by CENIPA. and it expressed solidarity with the families and friends of the victims. It also reiterated to passengers on general aviation flights that they should verify the status of companies and aircraft before boarding.

The crash’s cause remains under investigation.

Oliver debuted in 2020 with his album Ugly Is Beautiful and had multiple viral songs, including “When I’m Down.” His final studio album, Love You Madly Hate You Badly, was released just a few months ago.

  1. I saw Oliver Tree trending and I’m confused like… wasn’t he literally just posting in the studio? Also why were there like 20 cars involved?? That part sounds like bad planning or something.

  2. So is this the same Gaspi from YouTube who does prank stuff? I mean RIP but maybe he shouldn’t be flying around with random people, like the article says check the aircraft status and companies and stuff… but nobody does that until it’s too late.

  3. Helicopter crash investigations always take forever but I’m already hearing “it was maintenance” from somewhere. They said parking lot, cars hit, fires… sounds like the pilots made a bad call. Tragic either way though, two famous guys gone.
