Olave expects Saints contract talks to finish soon
Olave expects – New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave says he’s confident his contract extension will be completed before training camp, after choosing to stay in the team’s offseason workouts. Olave set career bests in 2025 and is now part of a receiving group the Saints h
Chris Olave didn’t skip the Saints’ offseason work this spring.
While some players push to speed up contract extension talks by staying away from voluntary sessions, Olave stayed in the workouts and last week explained why. He pointed to being “committed to winning,” framing his decision as something that fits the team’s bigger goals.
Contract negotiations, though, have moved at their own pace. Olave said the talks are “a whole different side of the game,” and General Manager Mickey Loomis had earlier acknowledged that “the two sides were not there yet,” even with a clear desire to get something done.
Still, Olave sounded optimistic about closing the gap soon. He told WBRZ that he expects the situation to be settled “before training camp,” adding: “I hope we do, so we don’t affect the chemistry going into training camp, but I think it’s going to get done soon.”
The stakes aren’t theoretical for the Saints. Olave came off a 2025 season in which he set career bests with 100 catches for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns. With his extension discussions ongoing, the team’s on-field plans are already lining up for the next step.
New Orleans added first-round pick Jordyn Tyson to the receiving corps in April, and pairing Olave and Tyson with second-year quarterback Tyler Shough is part of the Saints’ plan to contend for a playoff berth in 2026.

So he just expects it to be done huh. Famous last words.
Honestly good for him for staying in the workouts. If he was really about winning they’d pay him already though, right? Training camp is like two seconds away.
I don’t get why “talks move at their own pace” like just sign it. Mickey Loomis always acting like it’s complicated but it’s just money. Also Tyler Shough?? I thought the Saints had a different QB last year, so this whole thing feels rushed.
Before training camp means they’re delaying on purpose, like to force the price down. But then again Olave said he’s confident so maybe it’s fine. I just hope Jordyn Tyson doesn’t get buried on the depth chart if they’re still arguing. Saints gonna Saints, I guess.
