The Oilers’ first pick comes at 58th overall. starting a draft haul that reaches across North America and Europe and centers heavily on players preparing for college hockey.
At 58th overall, Edmonton selected Rudolfs Berzkalns. The six-foot-four Latvian is coming out of the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the USHL. where he posted 13 goals. 12 assists. and 25 points in 48 games during the 2025-26 season. Berzkalns has also played in the past two world junior championships. Muskegon tendered him in 2023, and he plans to play NCAA hockey at Boston College.
Three picks later, the Oilers added another European piece. At 84th overall, they drafted Malcom Gästrin. The six-foot winger played for MoDo in the Swedish junior ranks in 2025-26, producing 9 goals, 16 assists, and 25 points in 24 games. His scoring pace—more than a point a game—stood out as he moved through Sweden’s junior pipeline. He also played four games at the men’s level. Gästrin is set to continue his path with NCAA hockey after the draft. with his development plan tied to the junior-to-college transition.
Defensive depth was the next priority. At 133rd overall, Edmonton took Andrew Robinson. A six-foot blue-liner. Robinson played for the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL in 2025-26 and finished with 9 goals. 15 assists. and 24 points in 63 games. His all-around impact was loud in the standings as he was plus-36 for a division champion in the OHL. Robinson earned a spot on the OHL’s second all-rookie team and is committed to Providence College for the 2027-28 season.
Edmonton stayed with the Spitfires at 180th overall, selecting Caden Harvey. The six-foot-one forward is a Pennsylvania native who produced 11 goals, 23 assists, and 34 points in 68 games for Windsor in 2025-26. Harvey’s route to the OHL included time with the U.S. National Development Program and, the prior campaign, the USHL. He also helped the U.S. under-18 team win the Hlinka Gretzky Cup last year, and he has committed to Penn State for 2027-28.
Their final selection in this group comes at 212th overall, where they chose Ryan Cameron. A six-foot-two goalie. Cameron played for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the USHL during 2025-26 and put up a 24-11-5 record with a 2.92 GAA and a .882 SV%. He made the jump up from the NAHL last season. Cameron is scheduled to play for the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede next season before joining Boston College ahead of the 2027-28 season.
Taken together. the Oilers’ class is built around players who are either already in the thick of competitive development leagues or preparing to move into NCAA hockey. With no first-round pick. Edmonton’s draft day begins at 58th overall and keeps rolling—through Latvian and Swedish junior production. OHL impact seasons. and a USHL goalie posting strong numbers—leading to a group that’s clearly aiming for college-ready trajectories.
