As their relationship status changes, Abdalla’s professional focus remains on the next chapter of the series. Following the highly successful premiere of Prime Video’s Off Campus, she is currently filming the second season. Based on Elle Kennedy’s book The Score, season 2 will revolve around Allie and Dean’s (Stephen Kalyn) love story.

In interviews ahead of what’s coming. Abdalla described how much of Allie and Dean’s connection stays tangled with the larger fabric of the show. She said the series teases Dean and Allie “a lot earlier than people expect. ” but still leaves viewers “wanting a lot more. ” adding that she was excited about that momentum. She also said the show wanted to “stay true to a lot” of Allie and Dean’s love story.

She spoke about extending the show’s attention to connected story lines from the books. saying Allie and Hannah’s story lines are “so connected to one another” that it made sense to touch on that in season 1’s direction. Abdalla said the books build off one another and are connected. and that it “didn’t really make sense to not include certain elements from the other books in this season.”.

Looking further ahead. Abdalla said she was eager to dig into what she described as the emotional armor her characters wear. In her words. Allie and Dean both have “fronts” and “personas that are hard to kind of crack through. ” and she pointed to the books as the place where “there’s so much beneath the surface” for both of them. She added that as the time for the next season arrives. she was excited to explore that more deeply—emotionally and. for both of them as actors. “psychological.”.
