Summer 2026 is setting up like a throwback marathon—one that’s loud, glossy, and just a little bit scary.
On the big-screen calendar, familiar names are returning with theater dates that start as early as June. The Wayans brothers are back in the killer’s crosshairs for Scary Movie 6—Whassup?!—with genre spoofs. outrageous one-liners. and franchise staples Anna Faris and Regina Hall slated to join the chaos. It opens in theaters June 5, more than two decades after outrunning Ghostface.
For those who grew up glued to animated kingdoms and cowboy toys, the nostalgia gets brighter and louder. Disney fans will be able to return to Camp Rock with Camp Rock 3. arriving on Disney+ with a TBD date in August. Pixar’s next trip back to the Toy Story universe lands with Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19. where Buzz and Woody face their biggest rival yet: technology. Not every return is a reboot. Some arrive as fresh characters stepping into familiar territory. Nicholas Galitzine leads He-Man in Masters of the Universe, coming to theaters June 5. He plays the six-pack-bearing prince on a quest to save the galaxy from Skeletor (Jared Leto) and Evil-Lyn (Allison Brie). with Camila Mendes. Idris Elba. and Kirsten Wiig also joining him.

The later-summer lineup leans into both terror and weird comedy. The Odyssey’s epic competition with 2026 awards energy is matched by Eli Roth’s The Ice Cream Man. a Summerween treat that opens in theaters August 6. The premise: an idyllic town begins descending into madness after an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with terrifying results.
Kristen Stewart’s The Wrong Girls arrives August 14, directed by her wife, Dylan Meyer. In it, two aimless young women gain telepathic powers after ingesting an experimental drug. They end up pitted against dangerous rivals who are also pursuing the substance.

Sci-fi survival comes next with The End of Oak Street, starring Anne Hathaway and costarring Ewan McGregor. It opens August 14 with a story in which a cosmic event uproots their suburban neighborhood to someplace unknown, forcing the duo to fight for their lives.
There’s even a “never thought it would play theaters” moment baked into the list. Coyote vs. Acme, described as unkillable like Wile E. Taken together, the summer feels less like a calendar and more like a reunion: familiar franchises rolling back onto screens, while new stories—aliens, epics, survival, and experimental drugs—jostle for the same spot in your watchlist.
Scary Movie 6 Whassup?! So Toy Story 5 is about a smart tablet replacing toys? That’s kinda sad if true.
Camp Rock 3 on Disney+ with a TBD date in August… love it but why can’t they just say the date lol. Also Scary Movie 6 with Anna Faris AND Regina Hall?? I’m gonna need that Whassup?! immediately.
Disclosure Day by Spielberg sounds like another government conspiracy movie, not sure if that’s the same as the term “disclosure” everyone talks about with aliens. Emily Blunt + Colin Firth though so I’ll probably watch it even if I’m confused.
I don’t trust these remakes. Like in Scary Movie 6 the killer is Ghostface right? Because it says it opens June 5 like the original vibe, so I’m assuming it’s basically the same movie. And Super Troopers 3 has boner jokes again… cool I guess, but can we get something new that isn’t just recycling old stuff?
