Nobel-Winning Psychiatrist Issues Chilling New Warning About Trump: ‘It’s Worse’

Acclaimed psychiatrist Dr. Henry Abraham, who shared in the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 as a member of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, has warned that he believes Donald Trump has become even more dangerous in recent months.

Abraham, one of dozens of physicians who in April called for Trump to be removed from office over what they alleged was a lack of mental fitness, envisioned the president deploying a nuclear weapon in a fit of rage, but not really understanding the absolute devastation it would cause.

On Wednesday, radio host Dean Obeidallah asked Abraham whether anything had changed for him “in terms of that conclusion” about Trump, who has not been diagnosed with any cognitive condition but whose mental acuity has faced increasing scrutiny amid frequent apparent public nap times, multiple cognitive tests and repeated visits to doctors.

“Yeah, if anything, it’s worse,” Abraham bluntly replied.

“It’s subtle in terms of his mental status because a lot of it is more of the same,” he continued. “But when you get confirmatory evidence that points in the same direction again and again, after a while you sort of know what you’re dealing with and you kind of know what needs to be done.”

Abraham then used a pair of analogies to make his damning point.

“I mean, if an airline pilot had half of the symptoms that the president of the United States has, we would not let him on an airplane; we certainly wouldn’t want to fly with him,” he said. “We wouldn’t want a neurosurgeon to walk into the operating room and operate on — this doesn’t make sense — and yet, we have a system which enfolds the president’s health in a shroud of secrecy.”

Abraham said the issue is particularly serious given the enormous power wielded by the president, and his control of the U.S. military.

“When a person has sole access to the nuclear armamentaria, it’s crazy, and this is what we’re doing,” the physician said. “I think we’re in even more danger of Donald Trump using a nuclear weapon in a fit of pique or rage or confusion or poor impulse control than ever before. So yes, he’s more dangerous.”
